Continuing its would-be domination of the blog media world, Gawker Media launched Wonkette (no affiliation to MarketingWonk), which aims to bring the same level of bitchy, insider snark to the Washington D.C. world of politics that its sister blog Gawker brought to the world of New York media and high-low society. Ana Marie Cox is writing Wonkette, who used to write for the late, great Suck.com, arguably one of the first-ever blogs.

Gawker Media is the brainchild of its publisher Nick Denton, former Financial Times journalist and founder of Moreover, who cashed out of the dot-com boom comfortably from the networking club First Tuesday. An early blog evangelist, Denton is banking on starting a family of micro-publications.
