PRWeek reports that Gawker Media's anchor advertiser on its new travel site - Gridskipper - decided to abandon the project only a few weeks after the deal started. Cheaptickets.com, touted as the exclusive partner on the site's launch on January 31, could not be found on the site as soon as February 7. A Cheaptickets.com executive told PRWeek that "upon content review we thought it best to pull our ads at this time." Gawker Media's Nick Denton didn't seem too fazed, telling the publication "We'd rather lose the occasional advertiser than the character that attracts the audience in the first place. If an advertiser wants a safe environment, there are thousands of tired media outlets to choose from."
