WSJ (subscription required): A New Battleground In Web Privacy War: Ads That Can Snoop
Scott Eagle
Gator VP of Marketing
Keeping the controversy of Gator "spyware" pop-up ads alive, this front-page article in the Journal delves deeply into all sides of the story: advertisers who love Gator because its ads are so well targeted to users' behaviors; users who are creeped out that the software resides on their hard drives watching everywhere they go online, and the long list of companies (including WSJ's parent, Dow Jones) who have sued Gator for perceived infringement on their brands. This story just never gets old. I think the best position of all to be in would be as one of Gator's lawyers. No worries about getting laid off in that job.
