Gannett has expanded its investment in mobile search firm 4Info, reports MediaPost.
Gannett is able to distribute content such as business listings, sports scores and more through its existing relationship with 4Info. USA Today, a Gannett publication, used 4Info for text-message updates to users phones during the most recent NCAA March Madness tournaments. Those updates also included Chevrolet ads pointing people to local dealers.
Gannett first invested in 4Info in 2006. As the MediaPost story points out, such alliances are growing commonplace as publishers look for new ways to distribute content.
The financials involved in the investment were not released.
