Social network silo
Social network technology provider Ripple6 has found two new customers in publishers Gannett and and Meredith.
Gannett shall use Ripple6 to build a community for supporting local, independent and unsigned bands. Users can vote on which songs they want to hear on the radio. Existing websites with a similar ethos include IndieSolo, which launched late last year.
Meredith aspires to launch a social network dedicated to recipe sharing. To encourage users to exhibit their own recipes, Meredith will add some from its stable of magazine titles.
The recipe site could be the first of many other niche, mostly female, communities from Meredith if talks pan out.
