Gameloft to Develop 15 Games for iPhone in '08

Oh, the possibilities

Billing itself as a 3-in-1 device (browser, phone, and iPod), the iPhone — a growing threat to BlackBerry in the smartphone industry — is gunning for one more market: gaming.

Gameloft, a major mobile game publisher, has committed to developing 15 titles for the iPhone in 2008, according to Engadget.

Last week, EA and Sega were also invited to showcase games at the iPhone SDK press conference. EA demo'd Spore — a hype-ridden game that has been in the works for years — on the iPhone. And Id Software, the creator of Doom, also submitted an application to develop games on the unit.

Last week Steve Jobs said Apple has no plans to incorporate Flash in the iPhone. Asserting it would slow the phone down, Jobs stated there is a "missing product" in the market that would suit it better.
