Fun With Beef and Other Advergames

Globe and Mail: Video Games Get Play by Marketers

Article focused on the advergame market, which quotes Forrester research as predicting this will be a $1 billion market by 2005 (which would surprise me; the only Forrester research I'm aware of on the subject is already several years old, though I'm not sure whether or not that is what they're referring to here). The article cites Toronto-based Splashworks.com, which has developed advergames that have run on MSN.ca for clients including Universal Studios. Another great example: "Burger Boggle," a meat quiz game sponsored by America's Beef Producers, which runs on Cool-2b-real.com, as site targeting teenage girls, which just goes to show how absurd this trend might really be.
