FTC: FTC Seeks Comments on Spam Regulation
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) started the long process legally required to institute a do-not-spam list that would function much like its runaway-success Do-Not-Call Registry. It announced yesterday that it will collect public comments on the potential registry, how it might work, and implications of its implementation. The FTC will report back to Congress in Mid-June on the feasibility of such a list.
Also requested are comments on setting up a reward system for information on spammers, email identity verification and the effectiveness of the recent Can-Spam Act legislation. Comments can be filed online.
