SearchEngineWatch Forums: Froogle coming to the UK
Froogle, Google's shopping engine, launched in beta in the U.K. a few days ago. Looking at the random selection of unlikely items on its home page (who is shopping for ketchup or pepper online?), it's still a bit hard to think Google takes e-commerce seriously. Perhaps they will revamp with something more likely to lead to sales before the shopping season.
There's already established competition in Great Britain's comparison shopping market, including Shopping.com's Dealtime and Kelkoo (now owned by Yahoo) among others. Froogle will need to step up to be able to compete. Currently, it display prices in dollars and goods sold by U.S. merchants, though it does try to collect feeds from U.K. merchants now.
