Louis Vuitton said a French court had upheld a trademark ruling against Google and increased the amount the luxury goods maker should receive for damages (300,000 euros), reports Reuters. The Paris Court of Appeals apparently confirmed a February 2005 ruling by a Paris District Court against Google for trademark counterfeiting and unfair competition and advertising.
Louis Vuitton had argued Google is responsible for monitoring search advertisers using the Vuitton brand name but selling counterfeit Vuitton goods. Google says it has already barred the use of trademarks in ad copy and banned advertising for counterfeit products.
