Five software developers in Paris have announced plans to collaborate on a cross-platform, global middleware project called Play All.
The studios believe the next revolution in game development will come from a joint collaboration between studios. Play All aims to establish a common game technology company and technology center for all major hardware platforms, according to Next-Gen.
The collaboration is backed by the Mayor of Paris. Over the next two years, the 13 million Euro project will get support from major French engineering schools and recruit some 40 engineers.
Based in Paris, the studios involved are Darkworks, Kylotonn, Load Inc, White Birds Productions, and Wizardbox.
