Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment partnered with rich media firm PointRoll to build "fear photo" ads that promote the DVD release of Shutter.
Shutter is a horror film about a couple that discovers eerie supernatural images in photographs they develop after an accident.
The Fox/PointRoll banner ads showcase various ghostly overexposures and invite users to make their own "fear photos" at ShutterDVD.com. (Some user creations appear in the banner ads at random.) The site lets users upload photos, add a ghost to them, and post the finished product on their websites and social networking profile pages.
