Four to Vie for $120MM 2008 Olympics Account

Havas Sport, Publicis Groupe's Leo Burnett and Saatchi & Saatchi, and WPP Group's United have been asked by the International Olympic Committee to submit proposals for the $120 million 2008 Olympics global account.

Multimedia efforts for the campaign will use TV and interactive media, as well as promotional and experiential marketing and public relations, AdWeek reports. The winning agency won't be responsible for media buying, as the IOC negotiates airtime as part of its worldwide broadcast deals.

The theme of the $120 million dollar campaign will be "Celebrate humanity" and will run in 2007-08, focusing on the 12-19 age group with messages of "excellence, friendship and respect," the IOC said in a statement.

Omnicom Group's TBWAChiatDay won the 2000 Summer Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia account, while Saatchi handled the campaign for the 2004 games in Athens, Greece, and the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy.
