Ford to Park Ads on HomeDepot.com

Home Depot will be serving up Ford ads on its e-commerce site starting this quarter as part of an online push by Ford.

According to SendTec, which has been selling ads for Home Depot, several other marketers will begin advertising on HomeDepot.com in the coming months, reports MediaPost. Ford and Home Depot have worked together before, with a promotional deal launched last year, and Ford has been shifting more of its ad spend online. "The Internet is a more and more important part of our marketing," a Ford spokesman is quoted as saying.

With more advertisers looking for online ad inventory, some retailers have recently begun acting like publishers and selling ads on their websites. Home Depot began to do so in July, and Wal-Mart also recently announced it would start as well.

An advantage of advertising on e-commerce sites is that more visitors tend to be those who have the wherewithal to make purchases, according to SendTec President Eric Obeck.
