FON Engenders Wi-Fi Fluidity with Boingo, Time-Warner

A deal between Boingo and FON will allow people more access to Wi-Fi hotspots, reports ZDNet.

Boingo, which enables access to Wi-Fi connections via mobile phone, will now give subscribers access to FON locations as well. FON's wireless routers let users split their wireless networks into an indoor, secure one as well as an outdoor open one.

Boingo users may use FON's network for free but will still have to pay a small charge to use Boingo. Despite that, FON sees the deal as a way to increase use of its network.

Last month FON signed a deal with Time-Warner that will also give cable subscribers access to the network. FON was previously targeted by Time-Warner lawsuit because its routers encourage the sharing of broadband connections, something Time-Warner initially frowned upon.
