Growing Popularity
There are no shortage of start ups that seek to challenge the leaders in e-commerce, namely Amazon, Netflix and Hulu — all of which Flipboard would be competing should these offerings come to fruition. Flipboard, though, stands a better chance than most, given its popularity. McCue told Business Insider recently that Flipboard is doing about 400 million "flips" per month, up from 100 million flips in the Spring. He attributes the popularity to the iPad 2, the faster version of Flipboardās software and the growing number of print content being added to the site - Engadget and TechCrunch being recent examples.
Flipboard launched in 2010 as an iPad app.
