Half of the top 10 shopping/travel websites experienced declines in site visits in March from a year ago, one experienced no change, and four saw increases according to Nielsen/NetRatings, reports Internet Retailer. The largest drop was eBay's, with visits decreasing 10 percent to 51.6 million the March from 57.4 million last March. Expedia followed, dropping 9 percent to 17.6 million, from 19.3 million.
Others were Orbitz, falling 7 percent to 12 million; Yahoo Shopping, down 5 percent to 17 million; and Shopping.com Network, down 4 percent to 15.6 million. Amazon visits were flat, with 34.6 million.
Sites with an increase in visits were Dell, which had a 25 percent jump to 15.5 million from 12.4 million; Target, up 24 percent to 13 million from 10.5 million; Wal-Mart Stores, up 16 percent to 13 million from 11.2 million; and Travelocity, up 6 percent to 13.4 million from 12.7 million.
