Arial Software launched ReleMail, an auditing service for emailers, ensuring that email marketers and other list users pass a 15-point inspection that allows them to use a ReleMail certification seal and gain entrance on a whitelist (which, as yet, isn't used by ISPs). Many of the requirements are identical to those found in the Can-Spam federal legislation, according to ClickZ, but several measures go beyond those criteria, such as the inclusion of a privacy policy link in outbound email. Key to the audit program, the results are published publicly, putting pressure on the service users to keep conforming to the standards. The service costs about $400 per year.
