CNET: Firefox browser to hit 1.0 milestone

Firefox, the free, open source web browser program, will finally hit the 1.0 version today, provided no new "show-stopper" bugs are found. AOL spun off the open source effort more than a year ago, creating the Mozilla Foundation. The browser is largely a re-write of the older Mozilla code that came out of Netscape, providing a leaner and more functional version that proved the first to introduce several major features.
