On the eve of Firefox's first anniversary, the Mozilla Foundation celebrated the 100 millionth download of the browser on Wednesday, writes CNET. It's being downloaded 200,000 to 300,000 times per day. The first release of version 1.5 will ship in about two weeks. News of the milestone came on the same day that Netscape released an updated version of its browser. Internet Explorer is still the browser leader by far, and Firefox's underdog status hasn't lasted long: Opera is now gunning for it after having recently released an ad-free version of its free browser last month.
