ZDNet reports that Firefox took a cool five percent marketshare from browser behemoth Internet Explorer. Nielsen/NetRatings reported that 2.6 million people visited Mozilla's Firefox browser site in March alone. That compares to 1.6 million in February and about half that in January.
The biggest hiccup to wider adoption, aside from people tending to use the default browser they find on their computers, remains the 10 percent of sites or so that are slightly incompatible with the alternative browser. Banking sites, as usual, seem to be the sites most frequently on the trouble list.
Microsoft, in a change of plans, plans to release a new version of its browser in a matter of months.
