Social media startup FindMeOn has filed a lawsuit against Google, asking that it change the name of its OpenSocial project because it causes an "unfortunate confusion" with FindMeOn's own OpenSN (Open Social Networking) campaign.

FindMeOn developed OpenSN in 2006. The service makes individual social networking profiles agnostic across multiple social networking sites. Google's OpenSocial proposes to "connect" social networks across the web.

The startup faces an uphill battle against Google, which already has an army of lawyers at its disposal.
