FeedBurner Launches RSS Ad Network

FeedBurner is expected to launch today a new RSS ad network that it's been testing for some nine months, reports ClickZ. The network will offer advertisers a choice of various categories: business, technology, current affairs, consumer electronics, entertainment and digital culture. The tech channel reaches 150,000 subscribers, and the business channel 100,000 - but the company doesn't de-duplicate, so there is some double-counting.

FeedBurner splits ad revenue among publishers, who can decide how frequently ads appear and whether to run campaigns. Ads are sold on a CPM basis, with prices between $4 and $7. For now, creative is limited to four lines of text of around 190 characters, but FeedBurner says it's considering graphic ads.

The new network includes the online properties of SmartMoney and IDG pubs PC World, CIO, Computerworld and CMO; blog networks Corante, Ars Technica and Gawker Media are participating; among other blogs/publications are BuzzMachine, the Daily Kos and Talking Points Memo.
