FeedBurner Buys BlogBeat Analytics Firm

FeedBurner.com has acquired blog analytics company BlogBeat.net, allowing the syndication service, which also operates an ad network, to provide publishers with information about how their content is being distributed and consumed, reports Reuters. The deal, terms of which were not disclosed, is scheduled to be completed by fourth quarter.

FeedBurner manages 346,000 syndicated feeds of blog posts, news stories, podcasts and other regularly updated web information for 212,000 publishers of various sizes. The company has some 19 million feed subscribers from nearly 200 countries; two-thirds of its audience also sees advertising via its ad network.

Current BlogBeat customers will receive refunds from FeedBurner, which is planning fee-based enhanced services for 2007.
