DM News reports that the Federal Trade Commission and the California attorney general have asked for an injunction against a group of companies they accuse of sending 1.8 million pieces of spam and using deception to gain personal information. The actions target two California-based companies and their owners. Unsolicited email was used to market mortgages and other services including car warranties, travel offers, drug prescriptions and online college degrees, the agencies said.
