Federated Media Broadens Ad Platform, Launches Idea Exchange

Blog and advertising network Federated Media has launched a self-service ad market and an idea exchange, both intended to draw small- and mid-sized businesses.

The self-serve ad platform initially went live as a service to larger labels, but this week it opens to businesses of any size. Advertisers will have access to Federated Media's premium blog content.

They will also be better equipped to manage their ad campaigns: moving forward, all marketers will be able to view real-time inventory, upload creative and manage transparent site lists. They can also direct campaigns across a single site or whole categories.

And rates are flexible. Choose between paying a flat rate or on a CPM basis.

The Idea Exchange is a community in which business owners and advertisers can discuss current issues in advertising. Sections are divided thus: Community Engagement, Publisher Engagement and Brand Building. Users are also invited to pose inquiries to vendors, developers and Federated Media staff.

"The small- and medium-sized business advertiser […] could benefit from some assistance navigating the landscape of online advertising," said VP James Navin of product development (via ClickZ). "We want to help the community and make them aware of their options" — and, naturally — "make them aware of the existence of the FM sites and community."
