FCC asks DMA to Hand Over its own Whipping Switch

DM News: Regulators Seek DMA's Help for No-Call Enforcement

In a move reminiscent of a father asking the son to "go outside and find me a switch," the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has asked the Direct Marketing Association (DMA) for a copy of the National Do-Not-Call Registry so that it may enforce the Registry against the DMA's membership. A federal judge has prevented sister agency Federal Trade Commission (FTC) from enforcing the measure.

DMA President H. Robert Wientzen told DM News, "The DMA is attempting to comply to the fullest extent possible with today's FCC request," which sounds awfully reminiscent of the son saying to the father, "Funny thing, Dad, there don't seem to be any good whipping sticks outside today, but I'll sure keep looking."
