Deciding to shuffle from within rather than choose an outsider, News Corp. has named Dan Fawcett as the new head of digital media for Fox Entertainment, reports MediaPost.
As head of the digital media operations inside Fox Entertainment, Fawcett will be tasked with finding ways to strategically grow the properties under that umbrella. That includes, presumably, the talks Fox has hinted at being engaged in to distribute non-Fox programming via MySpace.
Fawcett, 43, replaces Peter Levinsohn, who left the position back in November. Prior to that, Ross Levinsohn - Peter's cousin - headed the unit at a time when Fox Interactive acquired MySpace.
Fawcett has been at News Corp.'s DirecTV for the last three years, serving as EVP of programming, business and legal affairs.
