Amazon, Netflix, QVC.com, Avon.com, LLBean.com, Newegg.com, and Apple.com were highest in customer satisfaction in ForeSee's newly-released E-Retail Satisfaction Index. Each scored 82 out of 100 or more.
Other e-tailers also scored relatively well, averaging 78, which is much higher than prior years – albeit 1% lower compared to 2009. At least a dozen sites scored 80 or higher.
Four Factors
For website eager to replicate this success, they may want to examine ForeSee’s own criteria when ranking the sites: it based its measure on four factors: price - including fairness and competitiveness; merchandise; web site functionality; and the quality and accuracy of the content. (via CNET).
Dynamic Pricing
Pricing, in particular, is something that consumers are increasingly taking into account as shop online. Dynamic pricing – that is, the practice of by e-tailers of monitoring consumers’ purchases via the cookies or other information and then adjusting prices according to how much they think they can get – is a growing practice, the Washington Post reports. But beware – when consumers realize it is happening, usually by deploying separate browsers to comparison show – they go “apoplectic.”
