New Facebook Ad Platform Targets Users by Keyword

Facebook: now more ad-friendly

Faced with ad options that didn't meet advertiser expectations, Facebook has introduced new payment and targeting options for its Flyer ads, reports ClickZ.

Facebook will now offer Flyer ads, its most ubiquitous format, on a cost-per-click auction model. It will also allow advertisers the ability to target their ads based on keywords in a user's profile. The new offerings have been dubbed Flyers Pro, with older offerings now labeled as Flyers Basic. Reports of Facebook mulling keyword-based ad-buys first surfaced late last month.

Facebook hopes the new ad format spurs use of the ads for goals other than just visiting a sponsored group or other more traditional use. By giving offering CPC as an option, Facebook hopes to appease those who need solid metrics, as well as others focusing more on building a community of followers on the social network.
