Facebook has launched a new Mobile Referrals dashboard to help developers better understand the traffic an app receives from Facebook mobile sources. The dashboard can be found on the main Insights dashboard or accessed via Insights within the app settings.
What It Shows
The graphs will show a wide range of information including the breakdown of app referral sources including referrals from the Feed, Timeline, Notification, Bookmarks or Search. It also shows the breakdown of mobile referrals from various devices, including the iPhone, iPad, Android and m.facebook.com.
Demographic breakdown is also provided not only by age and gender but also language and country.
A Page from Gaming
Inside Facebook notes that Facebook recently added game stories in News Feed as a way for users to discover apps on their mobile devices. Last month it it reintroduced the "Discover New Games" module in its right sidebar, which highlights games a user’s friend is playing or that are otherwise popular.
Gamers also get to see stories that list games their friends are playing the most. Taken together, these changes give developers far more visibility into the distribution of referral traffic from the mobile feed, Inside Facebook said". This might allow developers to better understand Facebook’s mobile platform and decide which discovery channels to emphasize."
