Facebook Commerce is picking up with one brand making plans to sell a product exclusively through a Facebook store. Reckitt Benckiser has announced plans to sell a new Cillit Bang cleaning product exclusively through its Facebook page, according to eConsultancy.
The product launch –an 'All in 1 Dish & Surface Cleaner' — is being promoted across several social media channels.
Retailers have been slow to adopt F-Commerce strategies, although there are signs that this is beginning to change. Another example of progress is provided by Dominos, which is launching boneless ribs, a new addition to its menu of side orders, on Facebook a week before the national rollout in the U.K., Marketing Week reports.
Still, the overriding use of Facebook by retailers is still promotion. An example of this, also reported by eConsultancy in a separate blog post, is Cadbury use of Facebook to to launch a new product called Bitsa Wispa. It ran a competition to find its "ultimate Wispa fan", and the winner announced the launch on Facebook.
