Parental discretion is advised
With the pursuit of making online gaming safer and boost parental confidence, the Pan European Game Information initiative will begin rating online games that are available via PC, console and mobile, reports Next-Gen.
The ratings have been in development for 18 months and include a PEGI label that license holders display on packaging. There will also be a dedicated website to explain the system and provide advice to consumers on playing safely.
Viviane Reding, Europe's commissioner for education and culture, applauded the rating scheme. She noted it utilizes input from both the industry and regulators, as well as child welfare NGOs and child psychology experts.
