Etailers Use Cheaper Mail, Get Same Results

Internet Retailer: E-retailers turn to cheaper shipping, but delivery doesn't suffer

A study showed that many e-commerce companies switched to lower cost shipping alternatives in the past year, yet the time to deliver (4.4 days on average) and accuracy generally remained unchanged.

The E-tailing Group survey showed that about half of all packages went through the normal mails (five percent more than last year). UPS and FedEX both saw declining usage.
