Why do cyberattacks always
come from students?
A 20-year-old Estonian student has been fined $1,642 for contributing to the May 2007 cyber attack that left Estonian websites crippled, reports IDG News Service.
The attacks were first thought to come from Russia because they followed Estonia removal of a Soviet-era World War II statue.
Ethnic Russians in Estonia rioted in the streets. The websites of banks, schools, and government agencies stopped working.
The attacks were especially worrisome for the tech-friendly Estonian government. In 2005, Estonia opened e-voting in local elections at a national level.
An Estonian official said finding other suspects will prove difficult, since the attackers are likely outside the country.
