MeyerWeb: Close One Door, Open Another
When I set out to buy a book to learn cascading style sheets (CSS), the web design language, one thing struck me in browsing those shelves: virtually all the books on the subject seemed to have been written by Eric Meyer. Meyer worked for the past three years as a "standards evangelist" at AOL Netscape. Now that AOL is winding down Netscape, Meyer has decided to move into his own consulting practice. Given his reputation, he probably will not have trouble finding clients.
That said, the book of his I bought, Cascading Style Sheets 2.0 Programmer's Reference, turned out to be so dense as to be completely unreadable. Ultimately, I settled on Keith Schengili-Roberts's Core CSS, which turned out to be a very helpful and easy-to-read guide.
