Editor & Publisher and MediaWeek have announced the winners of the annual EPpy Awards for Internet excellence, reports Reuters.
Nominees were separated into different tiers. Websites with more than one million visitors fell into one category; smaller sites into another.
Disney's ESPN.com won for best sports site in the larger group while KUsports.com from Kansas' Lawrence Journal-World won in the smaller tier. ESPN was also the only site to take home more than one award, also winning top honor as best TV Website.
Among sites with over one million visitors BBC News won for best news site, NYTimes.com won best newspaper-affiliated site and MarketWatch.com won best business news site.
USAToday.com's Life section won best entertainment site, CNN.com was acknowledged for best use of video and Washingtonpost.com won best design on a media-affiliated site.
