Gary Stein attended Commission Junction's affiliate conference, reporting that the big new development appears to be a new form of publisher compensation: earnings per click, or EPC. The measure provides for a low CPM floor, over which publishers are bonused for clicks. Interestingly, this measure may prove in other contexts to be the fairest for other publishers, as cost-per-performance measures often ignore the free branding that advertisers receive. By blending CPM and CPC, this is taken into account.
