Music label EMI will partner with distribution company Snocap to allow artists to sell music directly from their own sites, reports Forbes.
Snocap is the newest venture from Napster creator Shawn Fanning. Designed to let artists set up their own digital music storefronts, it allows the e-commerce transaction to take place right on an artist's page without redirecting to a third-party site.
EMI artists that will be using the service include Korn, Yellowcard and Dean Martin. It was not specified whether popular artists like Coldplay and Norah Jones would also be included.
Songs sold through the service will be in DRM-free MP3 format and be priced at $1.30, a bit more than via Apple's iTunes.
