Email Firms to Add Services to Sender ID

ClickZ: Anti-Spam Firms Tie Sender ID to Reputation

IronPort Systems and Cloudmark hope to exploit Microsoft's pushing of Sender ID anti-spam technology to enable them to provide add-on services that will compare the now-identified sender domains against lists of domains that have earned ill repute. This will theoretically allow Sender ID to not only tamp down phishing attacks, but also allow normal users to employ the technology to cut down on mail from domains that have been guilty of spamming. That said, domain's are cheap at $60 for the dozen. Spammers may adopt the practice of creating new domains for each email campaign.

In related news, DoubleClick this morning announced it has come into compliance with Sender ID. It claims to be the first company to do so.
