Email Marketing Joins Google Apps Marketplace

Several email marketing and related applications are included in the recently-launched Google Docs Apps Marketplace. These include Vertical Response, Google Analytics Dimension Analyzer,  and  Marketbright Marketing Automation.

For marketers looking to develop online campaigns on the cheap it is an interesting development. Developers are billed a flat fee of $100, no matter the amount of apps that are launched.  This is an important number, as most app stores charge 30% revenue share, especially Apple’s iPhone app store, writes Mashable.

A respectable number of businesses and governments have started switching to Google Apps because of the flexibility of Google's cloud system, according to the Seattle Post. “Microsoft has its Pinpoint catalog of Windows Azure and SharePoint applications, but the Google Apps Marketplace aims to be easy, one-stop shopping.” It may have some competition though, it added: Microsoft reportedly will offer a SharePoint-specific app marketplace when the Office 2010 suite is launched - in May for businesses and June for consumers. “That will add to the ecosystem around SharePoint and the Business Productivity Online Suite.”
