Editor and Publisher: Editor and Publisher Announces Changes for January
Editor and Publisher has announced plans to expand its print coverage in a peculiar way. Calling this an "exciting new era," Editor and Publisher will move from a weekly to a monthly, yet still provide readers with "over 50% more news coverage and analysis." In the process, E&P will also beef up its online presence.
"This shift will enable us to keep pace with the changes in the news industry which, thanks to the Internet, wants information now, not next week," said Michael E. Parker, president of the Marketing/Media & Arts Group of E&P parent VNU. "E&P, essentially, will be changing to an hourly frequency while maintaining its award-winning print presence."
That's one of the best spins seen lately, when the truth of the matter is that magazine readership is down, print costs are up, and publishers are pinching pennies where ever they can.
