Every second sold tusk
means another sad elephant
By June's end, eBay will ban all international trading of elephant ivory on its site, reports ZDNet.
According to the International Fund for Animal Welfare, the move marks the first online international trading ban of elephant ivory. A survey in February revealed that 94 percent of elephant ivory traded on eBay was potentially illegal since eBay's policies vary from country to country, and are often vague and not enforced.
Ivory was originally banned in 1989 by the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species, but it has since regained some popularity.
