Spam Fizzles Hot or Not's Free Dating Experiment

Spam: Not hot

Hot or Not has ended its free dating experiment, which kicked off in May, due to spammers overrunning the system with fake profile messages. The attacks got so bad that legitimate messages took as long as five days to reach people, according to Mashable.

The site will return to its old model, where users may browse and upload photos, but will need to pony over US$5.95 a month to send and receive messages.

Online dating can be an expensive affair.
