Draft FCB Plan Spin-off Agency to Resolve Account Conflicts

As a result of Interpublic Group's merger of Draft and FCB earlier this year, an independent spin-off agency brand that will offer "a full service, holistic offering" is in the works.
Yvonne Furth and Lor Gold, key executives at the former Draft in Chicago, are set to take charge of the spin-off agency, according to IPG, writes AdWeek. Furth had been president of Draft Chicago, and Gold was its chief creative officer.

When the two shops merged earlier this year, there was concern about possible conflicts between the agencies' client rosters. For instance, Draft worked for Verizon and Nokia, while FCB had Qwest and Motorola. One possible solution, floated at the time of the merger, was to create an independent unit to handle that business.

Draft FCB is the agency at the center of controversy surrounding Wal-Mart's $570 million ad account, which it won in October following a closely watched review. Wal-Mart last week stripped the business from Draft FCB and has launched a new review in which the shop is not allowed to participate.
