The Register reports that the CBC found the miscreant who leaked the premier of the new BBC series Doctor Who, but the Canadian broadcaster won't say who he is. Viral marketing wags speculated last week that perhaps the seeding was deliberate. The CBC declined to say who the perpetrator was, but said that he was employed by a vendor and that he had been sacked. The BBC said the leaker "had an early preview copy for legitimate purposes," which could be said of many viral campaigns that subsequently went awry, such as the infamous Ford Sportka series from which Ford later tried unsuccessfully to distance itself.
