"This is Sparta!"
HD DVD unveiled a new feature that empowers anyone that connects their HD DVD player to a broadband connection with the ability to re-edit a film by arranging scenes as they please, reports BusinessofVideo.com. Users can then upload their re-edit to a server hosted by the studio where other HD DVD users can download it.
Other features include the ability to download trailers to other movies, change menu styles and download other subtitles. So far, one title has been released touting the features: Warner Bros.' 300.
HD DVD's new features come at a time when its market share is falling prey to Sony's Blu-Ray technology. Blockbuster recently announced it would stock Blu-Ray instead of HD DVD. Blu-Ray also has more available titles than HD DVD does.
