ZDNet: DoubleClick blacks out from Web attack - News - ZDNet
DoubleClick's ad server system partially blacked out yesterday, throwing hundreds to thousands of ad campaigns into darkness and causing many publishers to be unable to fill their media inventory slots. The problem, attributed to a denial of service attack on DoubleClick's DNS servers, started early morning yesterday, around 7 a.m. and was still evident late in the afternoon. The attack came just one day after Google and other search engines reported denial of service attacks generated by the MyDoom virus.
DoubleClick says it has informed advertisers and publishers who were affected, although they did not indicate what party should be left responsible for the lost media avails that have gouged out a hole in the efforts to fulfill the many insertion orders.
