Do-Not-Call Registry Enforceable

Reuters (via Yahoo): Court Says 'Do-Not-Call' List Can Proceed

An appellate court decision yesterday evening allows the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the Federal Communication Commission (FCC) to enforce the Do-Not-Call Registry while a court case is heard on whether or not the list discriminates improperly between commercial, charitable and other speech interests. Telemarketers now face $11,000 fines for each number they call that is also on the Registry. Bills will soon be introduced to Congress to institute a similar mechanism for email.
