Reuters: Company fined $68,000 for sending spam
A Danish phone company fell afoul of Denmark's new anti-spam law, finding itself on the pointy end of a $68,000 fine for having sent 1,500 unsolicited emails. Denmark and five other European countries have instituted anti-spam legislation to come into compliance with European Commission directives. Those laws are almost certain to become issues of friction between the U.S. and Europe, as they've been designed to apply to companies outside of Europe, as well as local firms.
